Situated at the southern tip of Italy, Puglia is celebrated for its sun-drenched landscapes.
This region, often described as the "heel" of the Italian boot, boasts an expansive 800km coastline and historic olive groves.
Alberobello has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. It is particularly famous for its distinct trulli, traditional limestone houses with conical roofs.
Visitors are drawn to its genuine, rustic charm, which is evident in the whitewashed villages of Ostuni and Alberobello, the ornate Baroque style of Lecce, and the pristine waters of the Ionian and Adriatic seas.
Travel in your own unique way
This sample itinerary is designed to inspire your next adventure.
Completely customizable to your interests, tastes, and budget, so you can immerse yourself in local culture and enjoy an authentic travel experience on your own terms, departing on the date you choose.
-
Arrival at Bari Airport.
Meet-and-greet with your guide, who will be waiting for you with your name card, and private transfer to Putignano.
Putignano is a historic town in Puglia, southern Italy, located in the Metropolitan City of Bari.
Famous as the "land of papier-mache," it hosts Europe's oldest and longest-running Carnival (dating back to 1394).
It features a maze-like historic center, karst caves, and a rich, traditional culture away from mass tourism.
You will stay in a Boutique B&B in the heart of the town, where elegance meets authentic Apulian hospitality.
-
You will explore Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its more than 1,500 trulli.
The heart of the town is entirely made up of trulli, original dry-stone dwellings, whitewashed with lime and topped with cone-shaped roofs made of exposed stones.
Crosses, pierced hearts, and zodiac symbols decorate each roof, preserving the mystery of these fascinating buildings.
This day will be truly special: you will enter a private home for a cooking class, where you will learn how to hand-roll orecchiette pasta and discover the secrets of local cuisine in an intimate and welcoming atmosphere.
-
Visit Matera, “the city of mankind,” with its two districts, the Sassi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993 and European Capital of Culture in 2019.
You will descend into the Sassi to discover prehistoric homes carved into tuff rock and admire one of Italy's most breathtaking panoramas. You will walk through narrow alleys and small courtyards, visit a cave house and a rock church, and experience the magic of the view over the Gravina of Matera, which becomes enchanting at sunset.
Entrance to a traditionally furnished Cave House is included, offering insight into how people lived in these rock-carved dwellings until the 1950s.
-
Visit Ostuni, the White Lady of Puglia, rising on the hills of the Murgia, overlooking valleys of ancient olive trees and facing the Adriatic Sea.
You will discover the “White City,” named for its lime-painted houses, undoubtedly one of Puglia’s true gems.
Visit one of the historic olive oil mills in the Itria Valley, where you will learn about traditional milling techniques, an ancient, fascinating ritual still practiced today.
At 12:00 PM, you will taste different varieties of Apulian extra-virgin olive oil and learn to recognize the qualities of high-quality oil.
-
Departure for Lecce, the capital of Baroque art, where you will admire the warm colors of Lecce stone and the elegance of its ornate decorations.
You will visit the majestic Cathedral and its square, the splendid Basilica of Santa Croce, and the Roman amphitheater.
-
Visit and tasting at the local cheese factory and lern how mozzarella is produced.
In the afternoon, visit Monopoli, a charming town where you can immerse yourself in maritime tradition, still alive thanks to the historic fishing boats in the old harbour, which connects the historic center with the modern city.
The old town stretches along a strip of land facing the sea; houses rise above the shoreline, and among bell towers and Baroque domes stands the Cathedral Basilica, a symbol of the 18th-century grandeur.
-
Locorotondo, a small urban jewel with a circular layout, offers a delightful walk through its whitewashed lanes, leading to terraces overlooking the valley and vineyards.
Wine Tasting of a local wine and local delicacies.
-
The last day is dedicated to the pearl of the Adriatic, Polignano a Mare, famous for its stunning sea-view terraces.
Tasting of the “special coffee,” created and prepared exclusively in Polignano a Mare, served in a glass with a unique blend of aromas and flavors.
Alternatively, you may enjoy delicious artisanal gelato.
Finally, stop in Bari for a street food tour (focaccia barese and panzerotti) before the final transfer to the airport.
Visit the Apulian capital, recently revitalized and now a lively, dynamic destination. You will explore the evocative alleys of “Bari Vecchia,” leading to the ancient Basilica of Saint Nicholas, the Norman-Swabian Castle, and the famous “orecchiette street.” Enjoy scenic views from the ancient city walls overlooking the seafront, and continue along the shopping streets, highlighted by the Teatro Petruzzelli.
Panzerotto: Fried Apulian panzerotti are a traditional local specialty half-moon-shaped, leavened dough filled mainly with melted mozzarella and flavorful tomato sauce.
Farewell and Airport transfer.
